UPDATE – Lufthansa is closing in on an order for some eighty narrowbody aircraft. Half of them will be for City Airlines, the new subsidiary that Lufthansa is establishing as a new feeder airline for its European operations. City Airlines will launch operations in the summer of 2024.
Aviation website aeroTELEGRAPH reported earlier this month that Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr discussed the new order in a video presentation with workforce representatives. While a loyal Airbus customer, Spohr said that requests for proposals have been submitted to both Airbus and Boeing for the A320neo family and MAX. This will be for forty narrowbodies for Lufthansa and its subsidiaries.
