The carriers in the Latin America region have published their latest financial results, and we have three operators that had back-to-back net profits. Nevertheless, the majority of the airlines flying south of Río Grande continue to struggle due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to IATA, the region is set to lose US$5 billion in 2021 and further US$3.7 billion next year. So, let’s do a review of 2021 3Q results in Latin America. 

The profitable ones

Three carriers posted net incomes during the third quarter of 2021 (among the public listed companies). These are Volaris and Viva Aerobus in Mexico and Copa Airlines in Panama.
