Addison Schonland

Aviation & Travel Analyst

Addison Schonland

Market Research Data Aviation Media

Addison Schonland is a consultant in travel and aviation with a strong interest in emerging media. Born in South Africa, his career has spanned aviation market research, data systems, and industry analysis.

He completed his initial college education at the University of Cape Town, where he graduated with degrees in Sociology, Economics, and Management Finance. After college, he worked at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Shell South Africa.

Once in the United States, he changed the course of his career by joining a market research firm, where he worked on the US Department of Commerce’s Survey of International Air Travelers. This project exposed Addison to the airline and aviation world and required regular interaction with 75 international airlines, including McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, and Airbus.

While working in travel and aerospace, an interest in large databases led to the development of an online insurance claim system and a system that validated airline passengers in the aftermath of 9/11, the latter system running its validation within six seconds of generating a PNR.

In 2008, Addison completed a doctorate in business administration at Rushmore University, focusing on customer satisfaction. This dovetailed with the emergence of social media and its usefulness as a customer satisfaction tool and a method of acquiring feedback. Addison lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
