Turkish Airlines subsidiary AJet had been granted the Air Operator Certificate (AOC), paving the way to launch services under its own leadership at the start of the summer season. The Turkish General Directorate of Civil Aviation granted the AOC on January 2, Turkish Airlines said in a public disclosure on Wednesday.
AJet is the rebranded low-cost carrier Anadolujet, which was established in 2008. Turkish Airlines announced last June that the airline would be separated from its parent and follow its own growth strategy. In line with the plans of Turkish Airlines to double in size by 2033, AJet has also a clear strategy to more than double.
