Boeing has urged operators of the MAX to inspect the rudder control system for a possible loose or missing bolt. The airframer has issued a multi-operator message (MOM) after consultation with the FAA.

The MOM follows after an “international operator” discovered a missing bolt in the tie rods that control rudder movement during routine maintenance. The event was reported to Boeing and the regulator, which prompted inspections to be completed within two weeks. The identity of the aircraft has not been disclosed.
