Rolls Royce presented another of the elements of its Intelligent Engine initiative at the Farnborough Air Show 2018, focusing on robotic engine maintenance. The technology developments have exciting possibilities, as shown in the video below. The technologies, when mature, will enable remote engine maintenance through robotics, controlled by specialists at the home office. From repairing damaged blades to re-coating surfaces with wear to embedded cameras, these technologies will move towards self-maintaining engines.
