Integrating Systems

Through a partnership with Bombardier, this state-of-the-art engine-monitoring upgrade enables operators covered under Rolls-Royce CorporateCare® to benefit from seamless integration with Bombardier’s Smart Link Plus technology. The combination of the two capabilities provides real-time engine health information from the EVHMU to the Smart Link via data transmission. This proactive troubleshooting and predictive maintenance intervention helps to maximize operational availability for operators worldwide.

Rolls-Royce SVP of Services for Business Aviation said, “Bombardier and Rolls-Royce are known to deliver outstanding levels of in-service support, recognized within the industry, and trusted by our customer base worldwide. In combination with our market-leading digital capabilities, our CorporateCare Enhanced program delivers exceptional levels of availability and greater peace of mind for our customers.

Our work on cloud-based analytics, smart algorithms, and artificial intelligence, and even bi-directional communication continues to play an increasing role in delivering the most comprehensive service program in business aviation – and the new engine vibration & health monitoring unit of our Pearl 15 engine is the key to unlock those capabilities.”?

Anthony Cox, VP of Customer Support at Bombardier, said, “The integration of Smart Link Plus with Rolls-Royce’s engine vibration and health monitoring unit will allow our Global 5500 and 6500 customers to seamlessly benefit from enhanced end-to-end data services that help optimize aircraft performance and reliability while continuing to keep maintenance costs in check. This advanced service offering is a first in business aviation, highlighting not only the close collaboration between Bombardier and Rolls-Royce’s technical teams, but also how we continue to leverage our full capacity as the OEM to make things easy and convenient for our customers.”

The Bottom Line

Integrating health monitoring and maintenance systems into existing aircraft health maintenance systems makes sense and eases workload for mechanics and maintenance planners. This first integration of Rolls-Royce EVHMU into an airframe OEM’s communication networks will benefit customers by enhancing dispatch reliability and providing early warning of potential future engine problems, enabling predictive maintenance.

This is particularly important for fleet operators, including fractional ownership firms, who typically operate at higher utilization rates than corporate operators with larger fleets to manage. Simplifying aircraft health management and including vital engine data will enhance reliability and safety.
