Aircraft interiors can and have to be lighter to save fuel and reduce the environmental footprint of an aircraft. That’s the thinking behind Airbus’ latest Cabin Vision 2035+, which the airframer revealed today, one week before the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg. The vision includes various sustainability initiatives. Airbus rethinks cabin and catering concepts for 2035.

study on the A350 has learned that the aircraft cabin contributes ten to twenty percent to the environmental footprint of an aircraft’s life cycle. Most of that is from the weight. Hence, the need for a “paradigm shift” towards sustainable cabin designs, said Head of Cabin Marketing Ingo Wuggetzer during an online press conference.
