and United Airlines announced an expansion to their codeshare partnership to include nine destinations in Mexico. This will give Emirates customers access to eight new destinations in the country, in addition to Mexico City, which the airline already serves.

Emirates and United are set to increase their codeshare agreement to add eight new Mexican destinations. In the past, Emirates had interline agreements with Mexico’s Interjet and Aeromar. Both carriers have ceased operations (December 2020 and February 2023), leaving Emirates without a strong partner in the North American country. Its grudge with Aeromexico over the Dubai-Barcelona-Mexico City route in 2019 makes it difficult for these two airlines to partner, despite being the logical option.

The expanded codeshare partnership with United Airlines will allow Emirates customers to reach destinations such as Cancun, Cozumel, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, San Jose Del Cabo, Leon/Guanajuato, and Queretaro from Chicago or Houston. Through this expanded alliance, Mexico will become the first country outside of the US to be added to the growing network of both companies.
