Aeromexico To Increase Long-Haul Connectivity

The Mexican carrier Aeromexico (AM) has announced it will increase the number of flights to Europe next summer season, adding six new weekly flights to Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD) and three more to Paris Charles de Gaulle International (CDG) from Mexico City International Airport (MEX). Catering to the demand Aeromexico is looking to increase by 18% its weekly connectivity to Europe by next summer season by catering to the demand that will surge during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the company said in a statement. By next summer, Aeromexico will operate 65 weekly flights between Mexico and Europe, serving five destinations in Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Paris, and Rome. Additionally, through the SkyTeam Alliance, the company offers many more flights through codeshare partnerships with the likes of Air France and KLM. The Mexican carrier will connect Madrid and Mexico City next summer, offering 20 weekly flights (almost reaching Iberia’s scheduling, which offers 21 weekly flights between these two cities). Additionally, Aeromexico flies to the Spanish capital from Guadalajara (GDL) and Monterrey (MTY) with a daily flight from each city. By adding the six new weekly flights next summer, Aeromexico will offer 34 weekly options to Madrid, increasing by 22% compared to 2023’s summer season. The route Mexico City-Paris will have an increase of 34% more flights, jumping from seven weekly operations to ten. Air France offers twice-daily flights to MEX from Charles de Gaulle. Giancarlo Mulinelli, senior vice president of Global Sales at Aeromexico, said in a statement, “Last summer, we broke the connectivity record between Mexico and Europe, and we will do it again next summer, in time for the summer Olympic Games.” The airline flies to Europe employing its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet. It has eight 787-8s and 12 787-9s. Traffic results In the first nine months of the year, Aeromexico carried 18.46 million passengers throughout its route map, according to the company. Aeromexico has averaged an 84.3% load factor, a 2.9 p.p. increase versus the previous year. Domestically, it has carried 13.25 million passengers, while internationally, it has reached 5.20 million travelers. Recently, Aeromexico has informed that it will also increase its connectivity through the Joint Commercial Agreement with Delta Air Lines. Starting January 2024, it will gradually introduce 17 new routes from seven airports in Mexico to nine destinations in the United States, all of which will be supported by Delta’s codeshare. By 2024, the two companies will offer 90 daily flights between Mexico and the United States on nearly 60 routes.
