Several press reports today cited Iraqi government approval for an order for five CS300 aircraft, with options for five more, presumably for Iraqi Airways. Â Iraqi Airways already has an order for CRJ900s from Bombardier, and will likely switch to CSeries rather than order additional CRJs.
While this order has not been confirmed, a similar situation occurred recently with Gulf Air, when a governmental budget approval included a line item for CSeries aircraft, but the order was not confirmed until much later in the following year.
If true, this would be another Middle-Eastern customer for CSeries, and increase the order book from 177 to 182, as the program marches towards its goal of 300 by entry into service. Â Stories on the potential order appear here and here.
