Several press reports today cited Iraqi government approval for an order for five CS300 aircraft, with options for five more, presumably for Iraqi Airways. Iraqi Airways already has an order for CRJ900s from Bombardier, and will likely switch to CSeries rather than order additional CRJs.
While this order has not been confirmed, a similar situation occurred recently with Gulf Air, when a governmental budget approval included a line item for CSeries aircraft, but the order was not confirmed until much later in the following year.
If true, this would be another Middle-Eastern customer for CSeries, and increase the order book from 177 to 182, as the program marches towards its goal of 300 by entry into service. Stories on the potential order appear here and here.
