Aerolíneas Argentinas and three subsidiaries of the LATAM Airlines Group have launched a codeshare agreement. This deal allows passengers to connect on domestic routes in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru via international flights operated by both airlines. As consolidation ramps up in the region, legacy carriers like LATAM and Aerolíneas must find ways to cooperate and keep up with the dynamic changes Abra Group and Low Costs are pushing throughout South America. Once unfathomable, the alliance aims to block Avianca from gaining ground in Argentina, as it has increased its offering through Ecuador. Tickets are available for flights starting February 1, except for routes in Peru, which will begin on April 1, pending government approval. The initial agreement spans over 100 destinations across South America, enhancing regional connectivity. The deal is expected to extend to LATAM’s Ecuador and Paraguay subsidiaries, with further details to be confirmed. For example, passengers can travel from São Paulo to Bariloche on a LATAM Airlines Brazil flight to Aeroparque and then connect to an Aerolíneas Argentinas flight. Similarly, they can fly from Buenos Aires to Cusco via Aerolíneas Argentinas to Lima and LATAM Airlines Peru to the final destination. Earning Miles Starting February 1, travelers can earn miles through LATAM Pass and Aerolíneas Plus loyalty programs on any participating airline, even if the flight isn’t part of the codeshare agreement. However, redeeming miles across the two programs is not yet available and will be announced later this year. Routes Offered LATAM Airlines Brazil for Aerolíneas Argentinas The codeshare includes several routes from São Paulo Guarulhos, Rio de Janeiro Galeão, and Brasilia to key Brazilian cities like Curitiba, Fortaleza, Salvador, Porto Alegre, etc. Routes from Bogotá connect to major Colombian destinations, including Medellín, Cartagena, Cali, Pereira, and San Andrés Island, and flights from Lima serve domestic destinations such as Cusco, Arequipa, Iquitos, and Chiclayo. Aerolíneas Argentinas for LATAM Airlines Domestic routes within Argentina include connections from Buenos Aires Aeroparque, Córdoba, Mendoza, and Ezeiza to Aerolíneas Argentinas' extensive network.
