Canada’s airlines have been as hard as any others. But, like only a few other markets, Canada has huge distances and a relatively small population. This means to cover distances time-effectively, you go by air.
For the Canadian airline industry, indeed its travel industry generally, the distribution of the Covid vaccine is pressingly urgent. Absent some serious action by the government, will Canada’s airlines survive? Things don’t look promising. CNN reports that 2.8% of Canada’s approximately 38 million residents have received at least one dose compared to more than 14% of Americans.
