Airbus North America Media Tour – Tanker 101

The recent decision by Airbus and Lockheed Martin to develop a venture based around a Pentagon requirement has spurred a lot of discussions. Airbus provided some color on this venture by having two pilots now working for Airbus with refueling experience as well as a person from Lockheed Martin provide a briefing. The briefing provided insight (refueling aircraft is dangerous work with the refueled aircraft generating a “bow wave”) as well allowing Airbus to demonstrate its latest technology that has been successfully refueling US military aircraft in theatre.
