American Airlines will acquire 50 Airbus A321XLR aircraft, converting 30 existing A321neo orders and adding 20 additional orders. As the world’s largest airline and largest Airbus operator, this order brings the total to 422 Airbus aircraft, 115 of which are outstanding orders.

The A321XLR is a new narrowbody aircraft that can y more than 4,700 nautical miles, which will help the carrier grow it East Coast hubs to new destinations in Europe and South America.
With American joining a number of other carriers in adopting the A321XLR, it appears that this aircraft is the true replacement for the Boeing 757 in the narrow-body market.
