Another OEM squeaked under the year end wire. China’s first domestic regional jet has officially been certified. This means COMAC can move forward with the ARJ21’s entry into service. The ARJ21-700 won its certificate after a series of examinations by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
The ARJ21, short for Advanced Regional Jet for the 21st Century, is eight years behind schedule. It has 78 seats in a dual-class configuration and 90 seats in a full economy configuration. Launch customer Chengdu Airlines should take delivery in early 2015.
