Cathay Pacific’s parent group reported 1H26 net profit of HK$6.24 billion (US$802 million), up 71% year over year. Attributable profit from the airlines and subsidiaries rose to HK$4.9 billion, from HK$3.8 billion a year ago. Passenger volume grew 17.5%, to just over 16 million. Cargo tonnage rose 9%.
Every other carrier this earnings season has told some version of the same story: fuel spiked, profit fell, and the operating business underneath looked better than the headline. Cathay just posted a 71% profit increase in the same fuel environment.
