Boeing and Emirates SkyCargo announced an order for five additional 777 Freighters. The operator is choosing the world’s most capable twin-engine freighter to meet growing cargo demand. The new purchase brings Emirates’ order book to 245 Boeing widebody airplanes, including 10 777 Freighters.

This investment in 777Fs will boost main deck cargo capacity by 30% by 2026. Emirates’ freighter fleet will grow to 17 airplanes – including 777 Freighters, 777 converted freighters and 747 Freighters.

This is the second day in a row that Boeing has announced an order before next week’s Farnborough show. The industry is abuzz with rumors that Boeing could announce several big deals at the show. These two announcements certainly guide to such an outcome.  The value of a show announcement optimizes media and trade press coverage. Making these announcements early could mean Boeing already has a full schedule for next week.   Perhaps this might be an exciting show after all.
