Dubai Airshow has not been over for Ethiopian Airlines with Tuesday’s order announcements for up to 67 Boeing MAX and 787 aircraft. The carrier announced another one on Wednesday, be it a Memorandum of Understanding for 11 Airbus A350-900s.
There was no press conference, only a press release from Airbus early afternoon that was confirmed by Ethiopian on X. Signatures were probably put to the agreement when the airline’s top management was at the airshow on Tuesday.
The MoU for 11 aircraft also includes purchase rights for six more A350-900s. Ethiopian currently operates a fleet of 20 -900s that were delivered between June 2016 and April this year. This includes six that are on lease from AerCap, Clover Aviation Capital, Jackson Square, and ICBC. In July, it converted four -900s into the larger A350-1000
. Airbus says that the latest order would take orders and commitments to 29 A350-900s and four -1000s.
