GAMA reports 3rd quarter shipments and billings

GAMA, the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, has released its third quarter shipments and billings for the industry.  The overall results for the industry are positive, showing a recovery in fixed wing aircraft to surpass 2019 billings on an inflation-adjusted basis for the first time in five years.  Rotary wing aircraft surpassed that level quickly, and remain positive for 2024, with monotonically increasing billings, even when adjusted for inflation, over the period 2019-2024.

Overall Results Comparison through Three Quarters

The following table summarizes deliveries by aircraft type and total billings for fixed wing and helicopters.

Business jet deliveries paced activity through three quarters, up 10.1% from last year, but still falling short of 2019 levels in terms of units,.  Billings were up 19.5% year over year, and have finally exceeded 2019 levels on an inflation-adjusted basis.  We utilized the Producer Price Index for Aircraft as our inflation index, with 2024 being 16.2% higher than 2019 through three quarters.
