IndiGo looks to Embraer?

Care to share?

The news is eye-popping, but it shouldn’t be. India’s need for regional jets is something we’ve been talking about for years. The idea that every Indian city pair needs an A320 is clearly as inefficient as it is for any other market. Given India’s continued rapid growth in air travel, deploying regional aircraft is inevitable.

Regional jets also bring efficiency through right-sizing, even if their fuel burn per seat is not as good as a larger aircraft.

At this stage, Reuters has three anonymous sources saying interest is in up to 100 aircraft, with a possible 50-aircraft option. Discussions are ‘at an early stage, and a deal is not guaranteed.’ Let’s dig into this with data and other insights.
