Boeing today announced that it is shutting production at its Puget Sound facilities after the death of an employee from the coronavirus. Two weeks ago, on March 6th, we called for Boeing to shut down its Everett facilities after an employee illness was reported and later confirmed as Covid-19.

Interestingly, other states that have been less hard-hit have shelter-in-place regulations in place, while Washington state, an early coronavirus hotspot, has still not restricted activities to the levels of Ohio or Michigan. Governor Jay Inslee has shown ineffective and incompetent leadership in combating the disease by failing to make the tough decisions required of leaders. If he had, the spread of the disease could have been dramatically reduced over the last month.
