Today’s key news are rumors of another Emirates freighter order going to Boeing for the existing 777F, and a competition opening for future freighters with A350 against the 777X. Given the long delays in the 777X program, and engine durability issues with the RR Trent powering the A350F, this won’t be a pleasant choice for Emirates.
In the interim, a number of airlines are complaining about curtailing schedules due to delivery delays, with Ryanair and British Airways the latest. Ryanair will likely receive less than half of its 30 scheduled MAX deliveries, while BA is suffering from engine issues with the 787 as parts for maintenance are in short supply. Both customers are not happy, as is Emirates with the 777X delays.

Aircraft delays are forcing airlines into MRO on older fleets. Delta, which initially planned to introduce a new cabin with their MAX 10s or order are instead refurbishing 20 year old 757s, which will remain in the fleet a bit longer since deliveries have now been pushed to 2026 at the earliest.
