Airbus disappointing O&D for February 2025

Airbus released their latest orders and delivery numbers this morning. Here's our update with a new data visual. Notes: Orders are unpredictable, and one can't hold slow orders against the OEM. Deliveries, conversely, are easier to predict mainly because the OEM provides a target. Airbus is nowhere near its delivery target rate, and we're only two months in. Through February, there have been 64 deliveries. The production target is 75/month later this year. If production accelerates, can deliveries also accelerate? Look at the following chart and draw your conclusions. [caption id="attachment_90247" align="aligncenter" width="640"] AirInsight[/caption] Funding this inventory is not cheap, as we have seen at Boeing. The rise in that curve is alarming. February saw 14 orders and 40 deliveries. That delivery number is disappointing. The following table explains our thinking. [caption id="attachment_90248" align="aligncenter" width="370"] AirInsight[/caption] Our data is more current than what Airbus released. However, look at how far ahead Boeing is already. Boeing had to recover from a strike and a wobbly supply chain, plus it is still trying to fix its culture. Sure, Boeing has an inventory to deliver from. Boeing entered 2025 hobbled and yet managed to out-accelerate Airbus. Who would have thought?
