Fuel Efficiency

The US airline market has spent 25 years upsizing aircraft. The data suggests that the cycle is approaching an inflection point — not toward larger narrowbodies, but toward something smaller and smarter.

The fuel-efficiency data suggest that the next major US fleet modernization opportunity may not be another larger narrowbody, but rather a new-generation 100-150-seat aircraft capable of delivering A320neo- and 737 MAX-level economics in smaller markets. That specifically points to the crossover jets, like the A220 and E195-E2.  The former has a big customer in Delta.  The latter only has Avelo.  Looking at the data for American and United, the opportunity is there.
