Embraer’s Michael Amalfitano provided an interesting overview of Embraer’s future and their research and development into sustainability at NBAA 2022. The video of his press conference follows:
It is clear from the briefing that Embraer is clearly focused on the future, particularly with respect to electrification and sustainability.
Michael Amalfitano described Embraer’s sustainability efforts, including Energia research being conducted cooperatively across the company. That research impacts multiple business segments, ranging from the Ipanema crop-dusting aircraft which is serving as an electric propulsion testbed in Brazil to the emerging electric Urban Air Mobility projects at EVE to research on hydrogen, battery, and hybrid aircraft for their commercial, regional, and business aircraft. With a heavy engineering focus within Embraer, resources are focused clearly on how to achieve a carbon-free future prior to the industry’s commitment of 2050.
