With Qantas cancelling orders for additional A380 aircraft, and Emirates negotiating with Airbus regarding the future of A380 and A350 orders, the question of how long the A380 can survive is once again in the headlines.

Analysis

The A380 order book has been tenuous for some time, but continues in production at a slow rate.  The newest A380 customer, ANA in Japan, recently took delivery of its first superjumbo, which it will use on the popular Hawaiian service. These newest aircraft should still be in operation in 2040.
