We updated our domestic air traffic model, and here are the results. Some markets, like Nigeria, are over a year behind with their data updates. Even the EU is about a half-year delayed.
- Tier 1 – The slow EU reporting is glaring. The USA and China show strong growth going into the summer. The lower chart shows that all markets in this tier are now over the 2019 levels.
- Tier 2 – This group of markets shows good reporting. But only Mexico is above the 2019 level. Recovery seems to be a bumpy ride in this tier.
- Tier 3 – South Africa is the stand-out market with good growth in domestic traffic. Chile seems oddly off. In terms of recovering to 2019 levels, Chile is the lagging market.
- Tier 4 – The Nigerian numbers speak for themselves. Iceland is a strong market with a strong surge going into the summer. Iceland is well above the 2019 levels and far outperforms its peers. Argentina shows steady growth but only recently eclipsed its 2029 performance.
