United Airlines’ latest order for 110 Boeing and Airbus aircraft takes its backlog of undelivered aircraft on firm order to 722. It also extends deliveries until the end of 2032. The order also confirms the United Next strategy of upgauging by replacing aircraft with models with more seats.
The carrier announced the United Next strategy in June 2021 on the occasion of a massive order for 200 Boeing MAX aircraft (fifty MAX 8s and 150 MAX 10s) plus seventy Airbus A321neo’s. The neo’s are additional to the fifty A321XLRs ordered in December 2019.
