Wizz Air, the Hungarian ultra low-cost carrier, hit a milestone carrying its 70 millionth passenger from London’s Luton airport. The carrier is the largest operator at Luton, with 11 aircraft based at the airport. The carrier operates 50 return flights daily from Luton to 60 destinations in 28 countries.
Luton will become an all-A321neo base by 2025, providing a 50% reduction in noise, a 20% reduction in fuel consumption, and a 50% reduction in nitrous oxide emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft.
“London Luton Airport is a special place for us. It is home to our UK head office and the airport from which we operate most of our UK flights,” said Zsuzsa Trubek, corporate communications officer at WizzAir. “We are delighted to celebrate over 70 million people flying with us to and from this base. This milestone could not have been achieved without the dedication, integrity, and passion of our staff. We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with the airport and welcoming even more passengers on board.”

Wizz Air currently employs about 600 people at Luton and remains the fastest-growing European ultra-low-cost airline. Wizz Air operates a fleet of 198 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. London Luton Airport was named the UK’s best airport by Conde Nast Traveller readers, and has received a maximum score and five-star rating in the Global Real Sustainability Benchmark.
