Here’s an update through 3Q21 on the fuel burn numbers based on the US DoT data. Remember to click the double-headed arrow for optimal viewing.
- Page 1 shows competing engines and aircraft.
- The ball size on the upper chart is driven by the number of flights
- Click the play button on the bottom left to see the model move
- Page 2 shows the seat miles/gallon performance across the board.
- The table listing flights provides context for the seat miles/gallon number (i.e. for JetBlue’s and Delta’s A220s)
- Stage length clearly impacts fuel burn.
- Note the fuel burn improvement on the Virgin America A321neo when moved to Alaska
