With the data published, we updated our model. The numbers are interesting on several levels.
Notes
As the model shows, the A321neo continues to sparkle. It seems everyone wants this airplane.
However, the cloud over the industry impacts every OEM, which is the situation at Boeing. Before the strike, the MAX production and delivery yo-yo caused supply chain chaos. Even though it was only a few weeks old, the strike has worsened things. An unstable supply chain hurts everyone in the commercial aviation silo. Its impact on Airbus is illustrated on page 13 of the model. Even though Airbus suffers no labor issues or other internal constraints, it cannot build aircraft faster. Its huge backlog keeps growing quicker than it can be reduced.
Here’s a scorecard that tells a great story. Will we see 321neo orders eclipse A320neo orders? They’ve already eclipsed the A320ceo, and A321neo deliveries are likely to eclipse A321ceo deliveries soon.
