UPDATE – Icelandair and SMBC announced on January 5 that they have concluded a long-term lease to add another A321LR to the airline’s fleet. Some two weeks later on January 22, the carrier agreed with CDB Aviation on the lease of another two -LRs.
CDB’s A321LRs are scheduled for delivery in Q4 of 2025 with the SMBC aircraft set to follow in Q1 of 2026. In July 2023, Icelandair signed a contract with Airbus for up to 25 Airbus A321XLRs. A deal was also announced with SMBC for four A321LRs at that time. The recent agreements bring the leased fleet to seven aircraft. The first (SMBC) A321LR is scheduled to be delivered this year.
