Airbus’s July O&D numbers are in, and the gap over 2025 keeps widening.
Orders: 204 gross, but 66 cancellations brought net to 138. The headline commitment was SMBC Aviation Capital’s 100-jet single-aisle order (35 A320neo / 65 A321neo), followed by Hainan Airlines (40 aircraft), China Eastern (25 A330-900s), and flynas (20 A321neo + 5 A330-900). Backlog is now at 9,222 aircraft after 821 net bookings in 1H — roughly 14 years of production at current rates.
67 deliveries to 39 customers last month, pushing 2026 YTD to 418 aircraft — up from 373 at this point last year. IndiGo took 7 A320neos, Emirates added 3 A350-900s, American picked up three A321neos. One interesting item: An A321XLR for Aegean has been delivered to Airbus Financial Services. Wizz Air has also walked back from its big XLR commitment.
With official 870-aircraft guidance, Airbus needs 452 more deliveries over the last five months of the year — about 90/month, well above July’s 67 and roughly 20% above the ~75/month average pace needed for the full year. If they’re chasing the unofficial 900 stretch goal instead, that’s 482 remaining, or about 96/month. Remember August should be the EU vacation and everything slows down.
Production discipline is showing up in the numbers. Worth watching whether Airbus can hold this pace into year-end.
