GE Aerospace has been awarded a contract by NASA for Phase 2 of the so-called HyTEC program, which stands for Hybrid Thermally Efficient Core. This phase should result in a core demonstrator that is available for testing by the end of this decade.

NASA announced the contract last week. The agency is providing $68.1 million in co-funding for a five-year project that will start on February 15. GE Aerospace will fund an identical amount.
