Despite what the FAA says, the news from Newark Airport remains unsettled. A rash of aircraft running into each other across the US and a few crashes have left air travelers wary.

Newark is an important hub, and the impact of its delays is widespread. Can the FAA fix this quickly?  History doesn’t provide any comfort. United Airlines wants the number of flights at the airport cut until things are fixed. This comment is interesting because, as the data shows, United is the airport’s biggest operator.

What does the data show?  Here’s a short data model listing EWR’s traffic that allows readers to click and drive.

  • This link goes to the FAA’s live airport system status. As expected, EWR numbers look awful – again.
  • The US ATC system has been a political football for way too long, and this administration is no different. Twelve years ago, this case was made to privatize the FAA.
  • But here we go again, more hot air from Washington, DC.
