Compiling and updating models takes up a large part of every day. But there is beauty in data. Here are some tidbits from the models compiling US airline fleets and the daily data from TSA.
- Top 40 Busiest aircraft (by tail number).
- Top 25 US domestic markets – flights by airline.
The MAX 8 is working hard
- The industry averages 4.07 flights per aircraft/day, but the trend is growing and for 4/30/24 the average is 4.96
- Following on to the MAX 8 item above, the next chart shows the historic moment when Southwest flew more MAX 8 flights than -700NG flights. Historic for the airline but worrying for its fleet planners.
- Here are trends showing flight activity among single-aisles. The red marker shows the high point over the period. The model that catches our attention is the A221 (A220-100). Only Delta operates that model in the market and that trend is odd. Engine swaps to A223, perhaps?
- One of our favorite subjects is MoM models. Here are two charts highlighting this aircraft type.
