Key stories about Boeing today focus on the successful first crewed launch of the Starliner capsule, which has been long delayed, including two prior aborted launches in the last month.  The success of this beleaguered program has been a long time in coming and gives NASA the second option to the competing Space-X vehicle from Elon Musk, which has already carried 50 people into space.  An interesting editorial from Taipei suggests that Boeing dump spaceships and focus on planes.

The second major topic is the emergence of another whistleblower, which is becoming a commonplace event at Boeing.  This is not the first, nor will it be the last whistleblower to emerge, as there are about 30 that have been identified that are preparing to share their stories, according to a law firm.

Finally, India’s Akasa Airlines is looking for the MAX 10 to be delivered by 2027, which may be a realistic estimate given the multiple delays in the certification process.  However, if new avionics are required in the form of an EICAS system, the program could push further to the right.  Also, Spirit AeroSystems has named a new CFO, right in the middle of negotiations with Airbus to split out work for them while being acquired by Boeing.  The timing for this departure and replacement isn’t ideal, given the key negotiations currently under way.
