LATAM Airlines Group prepares for 2025, appointing a new Chief Financial Officer and gaining recognition for its sustainability initiatives.

Effective January next year, Ricardo Bottas Dourado will take over as LATAM’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), pending regulatory approval from Chilean authorities. Bottas, a Brazilian national with over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, has held leadership roles in auditing, treasury, financial planning, and mergers and acquisitions. LATAM highlighted his ability to drive growth strategies and navigate complex financial environments as key factors in his selection.

Rejoins Dow Jones Sustainability Index
LATAM Airlines Group has been reinstated in the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) after a five-year hiatus. Recognized as the most sustainable airline group in the Americas and ranked fifth globally, LATAM achieved a score of 67 in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for 2024. The group’s inclusion spans the Chilean index and the MILA Pacific Alliance list, which includes top companies from Chile, Colombia, and Peru.

The group’s sustainability strategy focuses on Climate Change, Circular Economy, and Shared Value, with achievements including:

  • A 97% reduction in single-use plastics, eliminating over 1,700 tons since 2020.
  • Offsetting 1.9 million tons of CO2 and protecting 300,000 hectares of Colombian savannas critical for carbon capture.
  • Transporting over 6,600 passengers and 779 tons of cargo through the “Solidarity Plane” program, supporting more than 50 community organizations across South America.

Financial Growth and Future Projections
The news comes amid a year of sustained growth for LATAM. By the end of Q3 2024, the group reported liquidity of $3.6 billion and reduced net leverage, with passenger operations growing over 15%. LATAM’s projections for 2025 include an adjusted EBITDAR of $3.25–3.6 billion and a 7–9% increase in passenger capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK).

Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group, emphasized the importance of these achievements: “LATAM is advancing its sustainability strategy while remaining committed to connecting and serving communities. We are proud of the progress made and will continue working toward our goals of net-zero emissions, circular economy practices, and shared value creation.”
