Argentine Low-Cost Carrier Flybondi has announced that it will incorporate four additional aircraft into its fleet under ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) agreements. Recent regulatory changes have made this expansion possible and will enhance the carrier’s operational capacity during the high-demand summer season.

Two Airbus A320 from Avion Express

The first two aircraft, Airbus A320 models leased from Avion Express, will operate from Buenos Aires between late November 2024 and March 2025. The aircraft, registered as LY-VEL and LY-MLJ, have previously served in various European airlines before joining Flybondi’s operations.

We are proud to be the first ACMI operator with Airbus A320s in Argentina,” said Darius Kajokas, CEO of Avion Express. “This collaboration highlights the flexibility and efficiency of the ACMI model, especially during seasonal peaks.”

Two Boeing 737-800 NG from Albastar

Additionally, Flybondi has integrated two Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft leased from Albastar. With Spanish registration, these aircraft will also operate from November 2024 to March 2025. The airline highlights this as the first implementation of the ACMI model in Argentina, a milestone enabled by the recent deregulation of the Aeronautical Code.

“Incorporating this model is a historic milestone for the Argentine aviation sector,” stated Flybondi CEO Mauricio Sana. “This achievement is the result of months of work and was made possible by the new regulatory framework. These additional aircraft will help us meet the increasing demand from our passengers this summer, as the ACMI agreements allow us to enhance connectivity, expand flight offerings, and generate new employment opportunities both directly and indirectly,” he added.

ACMI as a strategic solution

The ACMI model has gained global recognition for its flexibility. It allows airlines to respond efficiently to fluctuating passenger demand without long-term investments. By leasing aircraft fully equipped with crew, maintenance, and insurance, airlines like Flybondi can optimize their operations during peak travel.

Flybondi now boasts a fleet of 19 aircraft, a significant increase that underscores its commitment to strengthening connectivity and operational reliability. The airline also anticipates continuing with ACMI agreements for the 2025/2026 summer season, solidifying this model as a cornerstone of its strategic growth.

Flybondi’s fleet expansion highlights the growing adoption of ACMI solutions in Latin America, a region embracing global aviation practices to meet its unique market demands.
