COMAC expanding factory capacity for C919

COMAC, the Commercial Aircraft Company, of China is expanding production facilities for its C919 commercial jet.  With hundreds of new orders

, the aircraft OEM needs to ramp-up capacity to meet demand.  Earlier this year, all three of the major Chinese airlines, China Southern, Air China, and China Eastern, each ordered 100 aircraft.

China Aviation Planning and Design Institute Group (Avid CAPDI) recently won the bid for a second phase of the C919 large passenger aircraft batch production facilities construction project.   The project in Pudong, Shanghai, will encompass 3.552 million square feet.
