Dassault Aviation introduced the first Falcon 10X aircraft in a roll-out as it prepares for its forthcoming first flight. The Falcon 10X will compete at the top-end of the market with the Gulfstream G700 and Bombardier Global 8000.

A large cabin differentiates the Falcon 10X
The Falcon 10X has the largest cabin of any purpose-built business jet, with a comnfortable and versatile design with three or four zones. “The objective,” said Dassault CEO Eric Trappier “is to allow passengers to experience time on board the aircraft as just another part of their everyday life, not as a long interval between origin and destination. So they arrive feeling refreshed and at their very best.”

The interior is eight inches wider and two inches taller than its nearest competitor, enabling innovative designs that feel less like an aircraft but more like a living or working environment. The 9 foot 1 inch cabin width is the largest of any purpose-built business jet.
Falcon performance and agility
Dassault engineers, who also design fighter jets, utilize advances in aerodynamics, materials, flight controls, and avionics to build the most advanced business jet on the market. The Falcon 10X has a maximum range of 7,500nm, and a top speed of M0.925. The cabin altitude at 41,000 feet is 3,000 feet, with 100% fresh air for the cabin. The aircraft has 38 extra large windows to provide the brightest cabin in business aviation.
The composite wing combines Dassault’s traditional high life devices – flaps and slats – with composite materials to improve aerodynamic efficiency with lower weight. The advanced wing maintains the crisp agility and runway performance that has differentiated Falcon jets over the years from the competition.
Advanced Flight Deck
The NeXus flight deck offers reduced pilot workload and enhanced situational awareness. Touch screen avionics displays and new automation tools help flight crews manage complex missions. The Falcon Eye enhanced vision system adds safety in low visibility situations to aid pilots with complex maneuvers. The 10X has Dassault’s third generation digital flight control system with an integrated smart throttle, inspired by the Rafale fighter jet. The system enables management of both engines via a single control with the first automatic recovery mode in a large business jet, enhancing safety.
Rolls-Royce Pearl 10X engines
The new Pearl 10X engines from Rolls-Royce power the aircraft and incorporate the Advance2 engine core, delivering a step-change in power and efficiency. Dr Drik Geisinger, Director, Business Aviation, Rolls-Royce, said “today is a very special day for Rolls-Royce and the team. We are excited and proud to deliver the thrust for this extraordinary aircraft, and I would like to congratulate the Dassault family as well as the Falcon team on this special occasion.” The Pearl 10X engines generate more than 18,000 pounds of thrust, with low emissions and a low noise profile.

The Bottom Line
The Falcon 10X is approaching first flight and certification. The interior space, crisp handling and advanced flight controls to enhance safety differentiate the Falcon 10X from its competitors at the top of the market. The Falcon 10X will be the third new intercontinental business jet at the top of the market, in an extremely competitive environment. The decision between three great aircraft will come down to personal preference, as each have their relative advantages.
