The DoT published January data, allowing our model to be updated.
Notes:
- Looking at the top 25 flight delays, SkyWest features prominently. Operating as a regional airline is tough and involves doing “last leg” or “first leg” segments into and out of hubs. It remains a rough business, and here is evidence.
- Note the sparklines all headed in the wrong direction, too.
- It’s interesting to see that Newark doesn’t feature for January. The number of flights selects the top ten airports listed.
- The reasons for the delay are also interesting. NAS is supposed to be the big issue, but airline operations are the primary reason for delays.
