STARLUX Airlines , the Taiwan-based airline, has taken delivery of its first-ever Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, which will complement its current fleet of widebody aircraft, which includes the A330-900 and A350-900s.

On January 5, 2026, STARLUX Airlines said that its Founder and Chairman, Chang Kuo-wei, along with maintenance engineers and delivery acceptance teams, traveled to Toulouse, France, to complete the delivery ceremony of its first A350-1000 aircraft.

The widebody, registered as B-58551, is already on its way to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), having departed Toulouse Blagnac Airport (TLS) at 14:10 local time (UTC +1). The A350-1000 should arrive at TPE at 10:11 local time (UTC +8) on January 6, Flightradar24 showed.

“The A350-1000 is a leader in long-haul routes globally,” the airline said, adding that the addition of the aircraft “signifies STARLUX Airlines’ entry into a larger global network, promoting Taiwan’s refined service to the world.”

In addition to being the carrier’s first-ever A350-1000, it was also Taiwan’s first-ever A350-1000. Two other Taiwanese airlines, EVA Air and China Airlines, have ordered A350-1000s, yet are still awaiting their aircraft of the type. The latter confirmed an order for five additional A350-1000s on December 18, 2025, taking its total order book for the type to 15.

STARLUX Airlines first ordered the A350-1000 during the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2018, signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was split between 12 A350-1000 and five A350-900 aircraft. Deliveries of the order were scheduled to begin in “late 2021,” with the airline having received its first A350-900 in October 2022.

It followed up the 2018 order, which was firmed up in March 2019, with an additional 10 A350-1000s during the Paris Airshow in June 2025. In between those deals, the airline had reduced its initial A350-1000 order book from 12 to eight, resulting in the current backlog of 17 A350-1000s, which does not include the airframe that is currently flying to TPE.

Planespotters.net showed that STARLUX Airlines’ first A350-1000 departed on its first-ever flight on November 6, 2025.

When the carrier ordered the additional 10 aircraft of the type in June 2025, its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Glenn Chai, remarked that the A350-1000 offered “efficiency, range and comfort, making it the perfect fit for our strategy to optimise long-haul operations while delivering an exceptional passenger experience.”
