Airbus has achieved success with the A330neo in 2024, as it has suddenly become a “hot airplane” in demand for its versatility and commonality within the Airbus product line.  While the flagship A350 wide-body is leading Airbus wide-body backlog, the A330-900 is beginning to catch-up in orders this year.

Today’s order of 30 firm plus 30 options for the A330-900 from Cathay Pacific builds on orders received during the first half to bring the total firm orders in 2024 to 60 firm orders, including orders from FlyNas, Virgin Atlantic, and VietJet.  Total new orders are up from 2 in 2020, 30 in 2021, 19 in 2022, and 47 in 2023, as momentum is building for this aircraft.  The post-pandemic recovery in Asia is now well underway, with 2019 traffic levels expected in 2025, and the A330-900 has the ideal size and range for Asian as well as Middle-Eastern markets.
