When we visited JetZero a couple of weeks ago, we learned that a key element of their early progress with the Z4 blended wing body aircraft leverages digital tools and domain expertise from Siemens. From support in aircraft design and definition to the development of an optimized new manufacturing facility, Siemens is assisting JetZero to become a fully digital enterprise, with digital twins of the product and manufacturing facilities. As a start-up, the company is able to optimize both the product and the manufacturing processes from a clean sheet of paper, which the partners hope will result in an optimized manufacturing facility that eliminates potential bottlenecks and costs.
To talk about that transformation and Siemens product offerings, we spoke with Tom Tengan, Director of Digital Enterprise.
