Something is cooking between Embraer and India. This invite was sent this week.
The invitation comes as Embraer sent a note this Wednesday titled “Embraer’s Commercial Aircraft to Take Centre Stage at Wings India 2026″. In this note, they state: ” Embraer will display two of its commercial aircraft, the E195-E2 and the E175, at Wings India 2026 in Hyderabad, starting January 28th. Embraer’s significant participation in the event underscores the company’s commitment to advancing regional connectivity and sustainable aviation in the Indian market, presenting solutions tailored to address the country’s unique and expanding aviation needs. Both aircraft types provide airlines the right-sized capacity and strong flexibility to open new routes connecting secondary and tertiary cities.”
Our interest in these inputs dates back a while, back to 2024. As Embraer looks around the world for new markets and opportunities, like everyone else, they focus on India.
Unlike China, there’s no homegrown state-protected competitor. Moreover, India’s air traffic is growing fast. Besides media chatter on this, our data model using DGCA data shows just how strongly the domestic market is growing.
Of course, Embraer wants in on the action.
Make In India
This term is the nation’s mantra. Airbus and Boeing are well-established in the market. Even Russia’s UAC has dreams. Unlike Airbus and Boeing, Embraer offers smaller aircraft that India likely needs.
Geographically, India clearly needs regional aircraft. Embraer is the only player in this segment. The next step is clear. India needs Embraer’s aircraft, and Embraer needs more than the North American market for its E175. Moreover, its E2 range offers excellent range/payload numbers. Then there’s the BRICS connection between India and Brazil. Lots of alignment. There have been hints.
Nothing official has been stated – yet. But clearly something is coming, and it looks rather exciting.
