Leasing company True Noord has ordered 20 Embraer E195-E2 jets.  The specialist in leasing regional aircraft has moved up into the crossover market with the 132 seat model.  The agreement also includes additional purchase rights (options) for 20 additional E195-E2 aircraft as well as for 10 E175-E1 aircraft.  The firm orders are valued at $1.8 billion at list prices.  This comes on the back of recent orders from LATAM and SAS that have bolstered the backlog for the E2 jets program, with 154 firm orders in 2025.

“This landmark agreement represents TrueNoord’s first direct order with an aircraft manufacturer – a milestone in the company’s journey” comments Anne-Bart Tieleman, CEO of TrueNoord. “It marks an important stepping stone in our continued growth as a global leasing platform, underlining our commitment to investing in next-generation, fuel-efficient regional jets.

“The Embraer E-Jets combine efficiency, flexibility and performance, making them ideally suited to TrueNoord’s customers around the world. Partnering with Embraer allows the business to further strengthen its offering and support airlines with aircraft that deliver superior economics and environmental benefits.”

Arjan Meijer, CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, comments, “This first direct order from TrueNoord is a strong endorsement of the E2 family’s capabilities and success in the market, and a testament to the trust and collaboration between our teams. The E195-E2 delivers exceptional performance and efficiency, making it the ideal choice for lessors and operators looking to future-proof their fleets. This agreement also sends a strong signal to the market – reinforcing the momentum behind next-generation small narrow-body aircraft and the growing demand for sustainable, right-sized aircraft.”

The Bottom Line

The Embraer E195-E2 has won several key competitions in 2025, not only on the commercial side of the business, but for the C-390 Millennium military transport as well as its popular line of business jets.  2025 has been a strong bounce-back year for Embraer, who delivered 62 aircraft in the third quarter.  While production levels are not yet back to peak levels at Embraer, the success of the E2 should result in increasing production next year and beyond.

This latest order brings the total to 154 E2 jets in 2025, and is significant as it adds the support of a leasing company to Embraer’s customer portfolio.  The increasing popularity of the E195-E2 in the crossover market comes at a time when the existing fleets of E190-E1 models are just beginning to reach a date at which replacements can occur.  This bodes well for additional orders for the E2 family in the near future.

The transaction includes purchase rights for 10 E175-E1 models for the US market, in which pilot unions continue to block new technology aircraft with heavier, but more efficient, engines.  Many of the older E175s are approaching replacement age, and a resurgence in E175-E1 orders, as the only current 70 seat regional jets in the market, are being replaced with a last generation rather than current generation technology.

The E175-E1 remains the only in-production regional jet certified by the FAA, as COMAC has not certified the C909 in the US.   The result is an Embraer monopoly for aircraft that they reluctantly manufacture, and airlines reluctantly purchase, as they would rather have new technology that the scope clauses prohibit.

Despite headwinds after the global pandemic, the outlook for Embraer is turning more positive for all three of its major aircraft markets, regional and crossover jets, business aircraft, and military transports.  Embraer has regained market momentum.
