United is carrying more passengers and twice the freight. United typically deploys 787-9s in this market against Delta’s A350-900s. The A350 is the larger airplane and should be carrying more traffic and cargo.
In terms of profitability per flight and the hot Cape Town leisure market, United’s dual-hub strategy, year-round commitment, and better Northeast feed give it a clear edge in 2025.
